MPs believe NHS measures for tackling obesity are failing, it was reported today.
A House of Commons cross party committee will outline the concerns in a report to be published tomorrow.
A late draft of the report, seen by the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, is said to condemn Government ministers over "woefully inadequate" plans to deal with what they call an epidemic of obesity.
The findings will warn of increased levels of diabetes, cancer and heart diseases if the trend of rising obesity continues.
MPs are concerned that the Transport Department has no successful strategy to encourage walking, and are angry that children are bombarded with 'junk food' advertisements.
