Top apps drop prices for New Year's: Interval Trainer GO, Runkeeper Pro

Appnoose, the developers of the app Interval Trainer GO (ITGO), announced on January 3 that the app is being offered at reduced rates for three days. When purchased by January 5, the price is $1.99/€1.50. Another top app, Runkeeper Pro, is free for the month of January.

Picked as an Apple Staff Favorite in 2010 and featured in a variety of press, including ABC and the Financial Times, The Interval Trainer GO is designed for both gym and outdoor interval training. The app is a precise timing tool that features three dials to set your length of workout, the length of your intervals in seconds, and the ratio of high-intensity activity to low-intensity activity, and allows you to set music playlists to correspond with your workout.

Interval Trainer GO HD 1.0.4 for iPad normally sells for $5.99/€4.50; the version for the iPhone and iPod touch 1.4 sells for $3.99/€3. Both versions are available worldwide at the discounted price.

Runkeeper Pro, which normally sells for $9.99/€7.50, is available for free throughout the month of January via the App Store. One of the top-selling apps in the store, Runkeeper Pro tracks your physical activities, such as running, walking, skiing, and cycling, and monitors locations, speed, distance, time, and route. RunKeeper Pro is steadily in the top app rankings in the US according to the Apple Store, and it is currently the best-selling health and fitness app in Australia and New Zealand.

Looking for more freebies? Other top health and fitness apps that are always free include Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal, DailyBurn, and Lose It!, which aim to help you drop weight by establishing a daily calorie budget and exercise routine. WebMD Mobile, another popular app, offers first-aid treatment information and the WebMD Symptom Checker.
