Coming up, health professionals focus on men's health at the Men's Health World Congress, October 28-30, in Nice, France. Also, fans of fitness games are in luck next month with the release of new fitness titles designed for the Xbox 360 motion-sensing controller Kinect.

The seventh annual multidisciplinary scientific congress for health professionals is devoted to advancing men's health with a focus on therapies, tools and new research in urology, cardiology, endocrinology, oncology, sexual medicine, mental health, primary care, public policy, education and aging. Registration ranges from €250-600.

Fitness game releases for the Xbox 360 Kinect

Xbox 360 is releasing new fitness games for its hands-free controller Kinect, which launches on November 4 in North America and November 10 in Europe. Some versions of the new games are also available for the Wii and Sony's Playstation 3 Move motion controls, which launched in October. But the Xbox 360 Kinect is the only system that, for now, is totally hands-free, giving it an edge on the competition for fitness applications. Kinect's version of Your Shape: Fitness Evolved provides a mixture of soft and hard workouts, from yoga to boxing. Other titles to look for include the dance fitness game Zumba Fitness (versions also available for Wii and PlayStation 3) and the TV tie-in The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout. Releasing November 16/18 is EA Sports Active 2, which comes with a heart rate monitor (also for Wii and PlayStation 3).

World Diabetes Day (WDD)

WDD, created by The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization in 1991, takes place annually to bring greater awareness to diabetes and its control.

International Men's Day
November 19

Supported by the United Nations, International Men's Day, inaugurated in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago, is a annual international event that focuses on men's and boys' health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. Commemorations worldwide include public seminars, classroom activities at schools, radio and television programs, and displays and marches.

World Toilet Day

World Toilet Day is an international public health awareness day focusing on sanitation and the importance of healthy toilet habits and illnesses associated with poor facilities.

Jane Fonda's fitness DVDs

US Academy Award-winning actress and 1980s fitness pioneer Jane Fonda is releasing two new fitness DVDs providing low-impact workouts for baby boomers. Produced by Lionsgate and her first fitness titles since 1995, the releases are Jane Fonda: Prime Time Walkout and Jane Fonda: Prime Time Fit & Strong. Both are due out November 30 in North America and December 27 in the UK. Since 1982, Fonda, now 72, has released over 20 top selling fitness videos; her first video release sold over 17 million copies and is to date the highest selling fitness video of all time.

World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day draws together people from around the globe "to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic." There are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, according to 2008 figures released by the World Health Organization. International Day of Persons with Disabilities

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 10 percent of the world's population, or 650 million people, live with disabilities. The day aims to "promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities," states WHO. Global events are planned to include forums, public discussions, and celebrations. Stayed tuned to the UN website as scheduled events unfold.
