An exhibition of historic photographs of London will open at the Wandsworth Museum next month. Bringing together images from the museum’s own archive and the Museum of London’s, it will provide portraits of the British capital dating back to 1839.

Among the glimpses of history on offer will be poverty in Bethnal Green in 1910, a Suffragette stand in 1909, Victorian railway workers circa 1866, and a view of Trafalgar square from 1857 taken by Roger Fenton - the most popular and influential British photographer of the 1850s.
