A blockbuster exhibition of artefacts salvaged from the volcanic eruption that decimated the Roman city of Pompeii 2,000 years ago opens in New York today.

The Discovery Times Square exhibition includes over 250 entombed objects, as well as the largest collection of body casts and skeletons ever put on public display.
