Africa Chic, represented by animal prints and ethnic patterns, will be one of the biggest trends in interior design over the following seasons, according to the organizers of household furnishings and accessories show Tendence, held in Frankfurt August 26-30.
Now in its 15th year Germany's annual Tendence trade show is one of the biggest events on the interior design calendar, attracting nearly 60,000 people and, along with Paris's Maison & Objet, setting trends for the following year.
According to a trends preview released by the organizers of Tendence on August 23, one of the biggest trends at this year's show will be 'Africa Chic'.
This trend is characterized by animal prints and 'ethnic patterns,' most of which are in earthy shades and make use of natural materials such as wood or rattan. In addition to designers drawing inspiration from Africa, African designers working in the luxury sector will also be represented at Tendence in the Africa Chic section.
The exhibition Africa Chic showcases, for the first time at Tendence, African companies in the luxury design section. The exhibition will take place in the Interiors & Decoration segment and showcases companies from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Namibia, Ghana and South Africa.
Next month interior design trends will be reinforced at Maison & Objet in Paris. As one of the biggest household furnishings and acessories trade shows, the biannual Maison Objet attracts over 85,000 visitors from around the globe: this year the autumnr edition of Maison & Objet runs September 9-13.
