Designers shortlisted for award at 100% Design show

The 16th edition of the Blueprint Design Awards will take place at the upcoming interior design and home furnishings exhibition 100% Design, held in London from September 22-25; several designers have already been shortlisted for the award but more will be added once the show opens.

Winners of the awards, established by leading architecture and design magazine Blueprint, have previously included established designers such as London based, Spanish born Tomas Alonso (Best New Product 2009); upcoming designers Daniel Emma Studio (Most Promising Talent 2010)and luminaries such as Konstantin Grcic (best new product 2005).

The products nominated for awards at this year's show were selected by a panel of judges including Benjamin Spriggs - associate editor of the Sunday Times Style; Rebecca Stewart - director of product design group Arup; Deyan Sudjic - director of the Design Museum and editor of Blueprint magazine - Johnny Tucker.

In addition to the products already shortlisted for the award, the judges will have the opportunity to add further nominees to the list on September 22; the final winners will be announced the same day.

Shortlisted for this year's awards are: Paul Kelley, D*Haus, Tabisso, Adrienne Chinn, Martin Solem and Baines & Fricker for Best New Product; Charlie Crowther-Smith for Most Promising New Talent; Endesigns, Fred&Fred, MAEZM and h-comma for Best Use of Materials; and UNStudio for Best Exhibition Stand.

Earlier in the year four companies exhibiting at the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), held from August 13-18, were honored for Excellence in Design. General trends reflected by all four winners at the NYIGF were minimalism, space-saving and eco-conscious design.

100% Designs is held in Earls Court from September 22-25. Though the event is mainly a trade show it will be open to the public on Sunday 25 only.
