Guangzhou Opera House and Boston Museum of Fine Arts receive RIBA architecture awards

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the 13 buildings which will be honored with RIBA International Awards for architectural excellence on May 19.

From Zaha Hadid's Guangzhou Opera House to Foster + Partner's Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the institute has chosen some of the most prominent practices and most original new buildings around the world.

Dramatic renovations of existing complexes, such as Haiti's Iron Market or the transformation of a Moscow factory, both by John McAslan + Partners, were also recognized.

Brain and Mind Research Unit - Youth Mental Health Building University by BVN in Sydney, Australia
Guangzhou Opera House by Zaha Hadid Architects in Guangzhou, China
Iron Market by John McAslan + Partners in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
Alila Villas Uluwatu by WOHA in Bali, Indonesia
Stanislavsky Factory by John McAslan + Partners in Moscow, Russia
School of the Arts by WOHA in Singapore
Galleria Centercity Department Store by UNStudio in Cheonan, South Korea
Laboratory Building by David Chipperfield Architects in Basel, Switzerland
Loft Gardens by Tabanlioglu in Istanbul, Turkey
Boston Museum of Fine Arts by Foster + Partners in Boston, USA
North College, Rice University by Hopkins Architects in Houston, USA
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts by Rick Mather Architects in Richmond, USA
