During fashion week month (the twice-annual period of the main fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris), the world turns its attention to the international runways where the designers' collections are presented. But many design finesses, such as the invitations to the shows, go unnoticed, at least if you don't work in fashion yourself. The organizers of a new display are now planning to change that.

The DesignLibrary in Milan has curated RSVP. Thousand fashion, art and design invites, which is exactly what the title promises to be. But instead of the plain printed invites many might expect, the exhibition will feature little works of art such as a Rubik's Cube by Moschino (pictured) that invited its recipient to a couture show.

"We selected the invitations because they were beautiful, original, funny and surprising," the organizers of RSVP said in an email.

Rossella Jardini, creative advisor at Moschino, explains: "An invitation for a fashion show is an introduction. An avant-propos of a history that the show is going to tell."

In recent years, fashion show invites have become collector's items and status symbols.
