The annual International Home and Housewares show at McCormick Place in Chicago, March 6-8, is expected to attract around 60,000 professional buyers and over 20,000 American and international exhibitors. Highlights of this year's events include the winning entries from the Student Design Competition and demonstrations from celebrity chefs.

Exhibitors at this year's event are divided into four categories: Clean + Contain , Dine + Design , Wired + Well and Global Crossroads - a showcase of international exhibitors.  Each sub-section is then further divided into product groups within that category such as Energy conservation products in the category Wired + Well.

"The Block" - a knife block with a child lock - and other winning designs in the Student Design Competition will be on display throughout the exhibition, and American celebrity chefs such as Rick Bayless, Cat Cora and Paula Dean will be showcasing their culinary skills on the latest kitchen appliances.

Though the event is open to trade professionals only the International Home and Housewares show can be followed online via the following links: official website, Facebook, twitter and YouTube.

The International Home and Housewares exhibition is one of several household design and accessories events occurring over the coming months - including SIPREMIUM in Seoul (March 9-12), ISH (March 15-19), the Thailand International Furniture Fair (March 16-20) and the Hong Kong Houseware Fair (April 20-23).

In terms of visitor numbers alone, by far the biggest of these is bathroom product and design exhibition ISH in Frankfurt, Germany; which attracted 200,000 visitors and 1,285 international exhibitors in 2009.
