Healthy fast-food is rather a contradiction in terms, which is why many with-it Londoners now wing their way to Wendy's in their lunch hour. Forget the wimpy, limp salads of the competition, for Wendy's definitely have the monopoly where choice and freshness are concerned. Seekers of the wholesome can choose from 30 freshly-prepared items, including hot chilli-peppers, grated cheese, egg, kiwi fruit, pineapple, strawberries, peaches and tortilla chips. Prices begin at pounds 2.30 for a very substantial side-serving. At the moment, Wendy's only have restaurants at 25-27 Shaftesbury Avenue and 341-349 Oxford Street, but, according to PR Maureen Tuval: 'The intention is that the chain grows.' Good news.

Wendy's are open from Sun-Weds 10am-10.30pm and Thurs-Sat 10am-11.30pm.
