Iskra Lawrence: Plus-size model hits back at trolls who criticised unretouched photos

'I love seeing pap pics that aren't retouched'

Plus-size model Iskra Lawrence had the perfect response to body shamers who criticised unretouched paparazzi photos of her.

Regarded as a beacon of body positivity, British model Iskra Lawrence frequently speaks out about her journey to self-love - from encouraging us to love our muffin tops to attempting to erase ‘body blame’ from our vocabulary.

It should come as no surprise then that, when faced with a slew of derogatory comments over untouched paparazzi pictures, that she responded in the most perfect way.

While recording a segment for swimwear and lingerie brand Aerie’s new EveryBODY campaign, which promotes happiness and mental wellbeing rather than weight loss, the model was snapped by photographers.

Consequently, images of her posing in a white swimsuit and denim shorts appeared online only to be met with a slew of nasty comments.

“For someone who wants to promote a happy and healthy body image she certainly doesn't look like this on her Instagram,” one person wrote underneath the Daily Mail article.

While another added, “She looks a lot different to all her other pictures. Pretty average if I'm honest. The wonders of photo shop strikes again.”

Taking to Instagram, the Worcester-born beauty shared a photograph of herself during the shoot– which has since been like more than 160,000 times - where she said she’s finally learned to lover her body after years of insecurities.

“Grateful I don't hate my legs anymore grateful I see their strength and appreciate my bodies capabilities,” she wrote.

Lawrence also took the opportunity to thank paparazzi for publishing images of her that aren’t retouched – something the plus-size model has become well-known for.

“Also I realise I'm highly privileged but damn I love seeing pap pics that aren't retouched and some of those (lightning bolts) and (tiger stripes)” she added, referring to her stretch marks.
