Instagram celebrity Jen Selter kicked off American Airlines flight

An Instagram celebrity was allegedly kicked off an American Airlines flight after having a heated argument with the pilot.

Jen Selter is a 24-year-old fitness influencer from New York with 11.7 million followers on Instagram.

On Saturday night, Selter was sitting on an aeroplane with her sister that was due to fly from Miami to New York.

After sitting on the delayed plane for more than two hours, Selter decided to stand up to put her jacket away and to stretch.

However, a male attendant told Selter that she had to sit down, which led to the two having a heated altercation.

“The plane wasn’t taking off. I told him to relax. But he had something against me,” Selter told The New York Post.

When the flight attendant asked Selter if she wanted to be removed from the plane, she sarcastically told him that she did.

The attendant took his complaints to the pilot of the plane, who then contacted the police.

“All of a sudden five cops came up,” she said. “I was literally getting attacked.”

Selter and her sister were forcibly removed from the plane, with Selter capturing her experience on video.

In one of the videos posted on Selter’s Twitter account, a police officer can be heard saying; “American Airlines calls the shots. They don’t want you to fly on their plane today.”

In another video, Selter spoke to a fellow passenger on the plane who supposedly decided to leave the plane of her own accord due to the way American Airlines treated everyone during the quarrel.

Selter has vowed never to fly with American Airlines again due to the behaviour of the cabin crew.

“It was humiliating,” she said. “They made me feel like a terrible person, and I did nothing wrong.”

American Airlines has since tried to make amends with Selter, providing The Independent with the following statement:

“Ms. Selter was asked to leave the aircraft after a disagreement occurred Saturday night at Miami International Airport (MIA),” a representative from the airline said.

“American offered her hotel accommodations and transportation, which she declined.

"She flew on American Sunday morning back to New York (LGA) - arriving around 8.30am ET yesterday morning."
