Two of Germany's most recognizable brands are to come together to launch the Volkwagen Golf GTI adidas in June, following similar collaborations from names in Italy and France.
The vehicle will include customized features from the sportswear brand adidas, echoing the special edition Golf GTI released by Volkswagen and Pirelli in 1983 and 2007.
"The essential fact is that the GTI's technology and styling - and its interior customised in the style of the adidas brand - all produce a real dynamic mix," said a statement from Volkwagen.
Customized features include 18-inch "Serron" alloy wheels, named after a Finnish race course, adidas logos on the exterior and cornering lights.
Inside, the vehicle will sport a specially-developed sport seat design, adidas-designed fabrics and "Flash Red" trims, alongside a gearshift grip in the golf ball design of the first generation GTI on some models.
Colour options for the special edition model include "Candy White", "Black Uni", "Tornado Red" and the metallic "Oryx White".
The Golf GTI adidas will launch in Germany and first European markets at the beginning of June and is expected to be exported to Australia and the USA shortly afterwards - pricing has not been confirmed.
In January, Italy's largest automaker Fiat unveiled a special edition of the Fiat 500 created in collaboration with Italian clothing line Diesel.
Two months after, French car brand Citroen created a special edition of its DS3 hatchback in honor of designer Yves Saint Laurent, to mark the opening of a new exhibition dedicated to his work in Paris.
