BMW unveils four-door coupé concept at Beijing
BMW has shown its Concept Gran Coupé at the Beijing Motor Show. Like Mercedes' CLS and Volkswagen's Passat CC, the car is described as a four-door coupé rather than a saloon.
BMW hasn't so far released any further details of the Gran Coupé – for example, whether it might go into production, whether it is based on another existing BMW model such as the 5-Series saloon, or which BMW engines it might use. The design of the Gran Coupé is certainly extremely handsome, but BMW's mainstream saloons are already sleeker in design than their more staid Mercedes or Volkswagen counterparts, so they would perhaps leave less market space for a sporty alternative such as the Gran Coupé to prosper.
