California is one of the world's largest luxury and performance car markets, so this week’s LA Auto show was the right place for Jaguar Land Rover to kick off its latest product blitz.
In what the firm is calling a “Modern British Invasion” the Midlands-based company announced the global launch of the all-new XFR-S performance saloon showed the all-new Range Rover and the Jaguar F-Type two-seater sports car for the the first time in the Unites States.
Teased online last week, the new XFR-S has been confirmed to get 550PS from its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, boasts a 4.4 second 0-60 time and will b e the fastest Jaguar saloon ever with a electronically limited top speed of 186 mph. Its set to challenge the class-leader BMW M5 fast saloon, but still keeps fuel consumption and emissions of existing XKR model (24.4mpg and 270 g/km).
Outside it is not exactly subtle with aggressive looks, sharp styling lines, a big chin and a sleek carbon rear diffuser. Inside there is more carbon and RS-emblazoned sports seats. Keen drivers will enjoy the “Quickshift” transmission, which is an eight-speed automatic with flappy paddles. It works by constantly analysing road conditions, speed and throttle inputs for quick, crisp and clean changes.
It goes on sale in the UK from May next year and will set you back £79,995.
