Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate crossover to target Audi A6 Allroad
SUV-influenced All-Terrain wagon will head up Mercedes’ new crossover range
A pumped-up version of Mercedes’ forthcoming E-Class Estate is set to take on the Audi A6 Allroad. Dubbed the All-Terrain, the rugged newcomer will boast 4Matic all-wheel drive and variable-height air suspension combined with SUV-inspired styling cues such as chunky bumpers and arches, skid plates, roof bars and unique alloys.
Under the bonnet will be the same engines and 9G-Tronic auto transmission as the yet-to-be-launched E-Class Estate, while the cabin will be unique to this model.
Viewed as an alternative to Merc’s mainstream SUV line-up, the high-riding All-Terrain should arrive in October after the standard E-Class wagon hits showrooms. It’s expected to head up a range of crossovers on a similar theme that’ll be rolled out in the coming years, and will start at £40,000.
