Special edition models set to debut in March
Thursday 03 February 2011
Porsche is to produce a limited-edition run of its popular Boxster model, it announced February 1.
The German sports car brand will make only 987 of the new Boxster S Black Edition, which features a more powerful engine and will debut in March.
Living up to its name, the vehicle will be finished in all black, including the hood, wheels, grills and tailpipe, with the interior also featuring black trim, dials and seats.
It will offer ten hp more than the standard Boxster S, powered by a 3.4 liter six-cylinder engine which accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 276 km/h, some 2 km/h faster than the standard model.
The Boxster S Black Edition will be priced at €63,404 in Germany and £47,426 in the UK, said Porsche.
French auto brand Renault has also announced that it will create a limited edition version of its Mégane to celebrate the Monaco Grand Prix, with sales to begin in March.
The Mégane Coupé Monaco GP and Mégane R.S. Monaco GP are based on the standard and high-performance Mégane models respectively and will offer gloss black rims, stitched upholstery, pearlescent white cabin details and upgraded technology.
The models, which are available in pearlescent white only, will be sold in 14 countries and debut at the Geneva Motor Show, which begins March 1.
