Waiting to see what's hot before buying a new car? Last year's biggest car awards are spread throughout the new year.

2010 North American Car of the Year

Fifteen cars are shortlisted for this award, due to be presented at the North American International Auto Show, which kicks off on January 11. The jury is composed of 50 automotive journalists, writers and broadcasters from across the US and Canada.

2010 World Car of the Year

Finalists are announced in March 2010 across all categories, chosen by a volunteer jury of close to 50 distinguished automotive journalists representing the world's most significant automotive outlets. The European Car of the Year has been announced in November for the last eight years. The Jury for the Car of the Year 2010 consisted of 59 members, representing 23 European countries.

2011 International Car of the Year

The 2010 award was presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show for the first time this year, after 13 years of being presented at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. 2011's award may also be announced in December 2010 at Los Angeles. The ICOTY awards are unique, honoring new vehicles based on the emotional connection between car and consumer.
