Treading safely
The Department of Transport has unveiled plans to protect UK motorists from illegal foreign tyres. From January, used tyres will have to carry a label and identify the supplier. Minimum tread depths will be raised from 1.6mm to 2mm, and repairs will have to be carried out to a British Standard.
