Vettel prepares to unveil custom-designed crossover
Wednesday 31 August 2011
Infiniti has released the first picture of a new concept vehicle designed in collaboration with Formula 1 driver Sebastien Vettel.
The brand remains tight-lipped about the rest of the model, which appears to be based on the Infiniti FX Crossover and will be fully unveiled by Vettel himself at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
The picture shows a more raked appearance for the five-door crossover, with a redesigned front grill and bumper and a prominent trailing roof spoiler.
It bears Vettel's name on front fender badges and was described by the auto brand August 29 as his 'perfect Infiniti' - in a video released by Infiniti last week, Vettel is seen discussing the design with Nissan's design boss Shiro Nakamura.
Although a crossover model may not seem a natural choice for a Formula 1 driver to turn his hand to, Vettel is reported to own an Infiniti FX50 for use when he's not in his Red Bull racecar - apparently because it has space for his mountain bike.
The Frankfurt motor show runs September 15-25 in Frankfurt, Germany.
