Glotel, the IT and telecoms services group, has established its first consultancy, Glotel Accounting Systems, appointing Dinah Hudson as managing director. Previously, Hudson owned Riverside Computer Support Services.

BEA Systems, a provider of open distributed enterprise middleware, has appointed Steve Bale as managing director for northern Europe. Bale was previously BEA's director of sales for northern Europe. Before joining BEA, Bale worked at Oracle Corporation, where he was director of applications.

Data General has appointed Ali Shirnia as marketing director for the UK and Ireland. He joins from Informix Software, where he was head of technology, responsible for product strategy and positioning.

X-CEL Communications, the network performance management specialist, has appointed Peter Osborn as a director to advise on business strategy. Osborn is currently a partner in the Briars Partnership and a non-executive director of NetSoft Solutions.

Memory Technology, the data storage management specialist, has appointed Adrian Aubrey to design and implement a channel strategy throughout the UK. Aubrey was an account manager at Ideal Hardware. Memory Technology has also opened an office in Manchester, headed by Neil Furby. He joins from Trisys, where he was corporate account managern
