Microsoft Europe has undergone a management restructuring. Newly appointed vice-presidents are: David Svendsen, general manager of Microsoft Ltd in the UK; Jean-Philippe Courtois, general manager of Microsoft Sarl in France; and Umberto Paolucci, who remains general manager of Microsoft SpA in Italy and who in addition will oversee the regions of Benelux, Nordic, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Portugal.

Microsoft also appointed Richard Roy as general manager of Microsoft GmbH in Germany; John Leftwich, vice-president, marketing, Europe; Bill Landefeld, general manager of the marketing services group; and Ulrich Holtz, director of human resources.

Fujitsu ICL Computers has appointed Winfried Hoffman as chief operating officer. David Mills, former chief operating officer, is leaving Fujitsu after 20 years, largely with ICL.

Samsung Electronics UK has appointed Jonathan Bate as general manager for business channels. He joins Samsung from Philips Consumer Communications, where he was sales director.
