New clues to killing
A husband yesterday spoke publicly about the moment he found the body of his wife, who had been raped, beaten and stabbed in their home, writes Jason Bennetto.
Tim Williams, 31, said: 'I just want the police to get hold of these people because I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this.' He appealed for help in tracing the killers of Caroline Williams, 29, a theatre stage manager found in her bedroom in Rotherhithe on 20 August.
Asked how he felt about the killers, Mr Williams said: 'Absolutely nothing. I think I just can't take in the fact that anyone could have done this.'
Mrs Williams had last been seen visiting a post office about a mile from her home at about 12.30pm. Police believe she returned on her bicycle and may have been followed. The pounds 90 from a Giro cheque she cashed has yet to be found.
Police yesterday circulated descriptions of men seen near by. One, of Mediterranean appearance and in his early 20s, was seen behind the Dock Hill Avenue house before 2pm. Another, white with mousy hair and in his early 20s, was seen sitting in front of the house at about the same time. A third witness saw a man with similar hair run away from the street at about 4pm.
Anyone with information should contact police on 071-407 4759 or 0800 555111.
