Environmentally home appliances such as the EcoLogixx 8, manufactured by Bosch, belong to one of the key trends in home appliances at this year's consumer electronics show IFA, held in Berlin September 3-8.
The new Bosch EcoLogixx 8 washing machine, due to be released this autumn, uses less energy, and therefore is more environmentally friendly than most other washing machines due to a super-short 15-minute washing cycle.
Bosch's 'Active-Washer' dishwasher, also due to be released in the autumn, works along the same principles: equipped with a 'turbo-speed' cycle, the dishwashers are capable of completing a cycle in 20 minutes, this again leads to a reduction in water and electricity consumption.
Speaking at IFA 2010, managing director of Bosch Volker Klodwig acknowledged the importance of such environmentally friendly products to the company, stating that products such as these accounted for 50 percent of Bosch's sales in this market.
Household appliance manufacturer Miele also demonstrated its brand of smart washing machines which reduce the need for harmful detergents and a new generation of vacuum cleaners which achieve excellent results while consuming less power than their competitors.
