SPRING has arrived at Bar Vinyl Cafe. The doors are wide open, the music is loud and the sun is shining. Laid back and cheerful, Bar Vinyl offers a welcome retreat from the chaos of Camden High Street as well as a good selection of dance music on sale downstairs, a licensed bar and a varied and inventive menu - "modern Mediterranean and Thai", decides Kiri, the Australian cook. A refreshingly haphazard decor reflects the combined influence of the five people who share the business. A pre- club bar, with a different DJ every evening, a gallery for local artists, record shop and cafe, "Bar Vinyl is enjoying an identity crisis," chuckles one member of staff.

Bar Vinyl, 6 Inverness Street, London NW1, 0171 681 7898
