If you thought you'd heard the oldest chat-up line in the book then prepare to be disappointed (or delighted) by this week's events at Hampton Court Palace, where costumed guides will be exploring the myths and realities of Georgian and Tudor courtship and adultery, from the love- life of Henry VIII to the pulling power of an 18th-century fop. Throughout the week there will be special presentations on love and romance at the court of kings with sessions on the gentle art of wooing, and fancy footwork to attract attention. And for those gentlemen among you in need of a fresh approach to matters of the heart, why not consider shoving a pair of "calf improvers" down your stockings. After all, it didn't do ol' Henry any harm.
