FROM ITS Gothic arched front door to its leaded-light windows, Keble House in south-west London tries to be an imposing country mansion. The development of flats however, stands in well-groomed grounds on suburban Putney Hill. The top-floor flat currently for sale has four bedrooms (one overlooks the tennis courts, though the fourth is more suited in size to a study), and is being sold with a share of the freehold and a garage. There's a lift to the top floor. The price has been reduced by pounds 30,000 to pounds 375,000; details from Gascoigne-Pees (0181-788 7884).

STRICTLY SPEAKING, Parade View Mansions in Marine Gate, Portsmouth, isn't a mansion block, it's a restored redbrick barracks with rows of chimney stacks and polished windows. "Mansions" does have grander connotations - so the developer Redrow Homes hopes. All but one of the 20 two-bedroom flats have been sold, reflecting the waterside location. All flats are equipped with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer-drier and oven, and white bathroom fittings. The price is pounds 151,950; details from the sales office on 01705 818838.

ALBERT PALACE Mansions is a landmark block, standing in Lurline Gardens, near Battersea Park and Queenstown Road, SW11. It has easy access to trains and buses and is popular with buyers whose other little place is in the country. Number 99 is a top (fourth) floor flat with three bedrooms. The 14ft reception room is decorated in fashionable terracotta and cream, with a French door leading onto a balcony. For sale at pounds 275,000 - details from John D Wood (0171-228 0174).
