A businessman with a penchant for Volkswagen vans chose to drop everything and go travelling across North America when he felt he needed a break from work.

Shane Jordan is a 33-year-old man from Los Angeles who works in IT.

Jordan set up his own company in New York City aged 19 and has been working ever since.

Last year, he decided that it was about time to go on a well-deserved break.

After coming across a Volkswagen van online, Jordan discovered the VW culture that’s prevalent across the world and wanted to become a part of it.

So, he and his girlfriend, fellow explorer Natalie Thepphomma, hit the road and began their exciting cross-country experience.

Jordan now runs a blog called livethevanlife.com and details the couple’s escapades on his Instagram account.

“Last year felt like a good time to take a break. I rather enjoyed it. I think I’ll keep doing it,” Jordan wrote on Instagram.

“Also I created this account to share my van build and some of my travels in said van.

“I’m just a dude, who built a van he travels around in, trying to figure out life and trying to be happy, just like everyone else.”

He and Thepphomma’s adventures have taken them far and wide.

While they've ventured to locations including Florida, Maine and Nova Scotia in their VW camper van, the couple have also travelled across the world, visiting Thailand at the end of last year.

They even play a game when they’re away to see who can spot the VW vans first.

Vans aren’t the only vehicle that Jordan has a passion for.

Jordan recently bought his very own houseboat to enjoy when he and his girlfriend aren’t on the road.

The 1986 38 foot Holiday Mansion Coastal Barracuda Houseboat is a dream for anyone who enjoys life on the waves.

“One late night in Nepal last month I fired up Craigslist and started looking at boats,” Jordan wrote on Instagram.

“After a month of negotiations and a day spent with a marine surveyor yesterday going over the boat I took the plunge."
