Porky's Pantry, 49 Chandos Place (0171-836 0967). If the endless permutations give rise to savoury paralysis, head for simplicity in the bubble-and- squeak, and fried egg combination on your choice of bread.
Guinea, 30 Bruton Place, Mayfair (0171-409 1728). The award-winning Steak Mirabeau available here (and at the Windmill just around the corner) contains three and a half ounces of Aberdeen Angus steak, mayonnaise, tarragon, anchovy, tomato, olive paste, and lettuce served on toasted ciabatta (or a stretcher).
Mangetout, 55 Castle St, Liverpool, L2 9XL (0151-427 9857). Plenty of designer detail in the decor (complete with murals) and the sandwiches made with bread from the Lake District's Village Bakery. Try sun-dried tomato bread filled with cottage cheese, watercress, grated carrot, and walnut.
