The evidence: The interior designer's workspace

Kelly Hoppen is an interior designer based in London. Her `East meets West' style won her the Andrew Martin Design award in 1996. She also designs her own fabrics and a homeware range for Debenhams

"We have lots of these tables (1), I make them up from trestles but they are fantastic. These are some designs (2) I'm doing for a commission at the moment. I am about to launch a range of paints with the company Fired Earth that are called Perfect Neutrals (3). I have just designed the interior for the Honda HRB, these are some drawings (4) but we will see the real thing in a few weeks. These are the proofs (5) of half of my new book, In Touch, which looks at texture; it's being published in the autumn. We have many products coming out in the next few months so there are loads of samples, drawings of pottery (6) and feng shui aromatic products. We are endlessly taking Polaroids (7) of everything. I keep my bits and pieces in my tray, my antique tape measure (8) - I only work in feet and inches - which was a present from one of the girls who works for me. I keep invitations (9) on my desk but don't necessarily go to everything. I have an imminent pile (10) and lots of lists. I have no idea where this stone (11) came from but it feels really nice."
