The evidence The make-up artist's studio

Sharon Dowsett is a make-up artist who works for British and US Vogue, i-D, and does runway shows for Copperwheat Blundell, Ally Capellino and Balenciaga

"The day of the photo I was holding a beauty forum in my workshop. I'd invited some women in to get their opinions on make-up: it's really important to get the consumers' opinions on products. The photographer couldn't believe how tidy it was, I'm incredibly organised - you have to be as there are so many products. The trolleys I use to display my make-up were pounds 3 each, they're old Post Office trolleys. The boards on the wall are a selection of beauty advertising campaigns and one or two art references. Normally I've planned what I'm doing in advance so I just carry that silver box on appointments and sessions. I think if I could only take one thing it would be the colour palettes [in the trolley]. The bike is my boyfriend's, I'm more of a rambler. The dentist's chair I bought in Brick Lane, it was really cheap, but it's great because people totally relax when they sit in it so they keep nice and still."
