Veiled by prejudice : LETTERS
From Mr M. U. Ward Sir: Randhir Singh Bains (letters, 28 December) rightly states: "It is not what Islam stands for but how it is projected that leaves a lasting impression on the mind." That said, he ignores completely what it stands for, projecting instead an entirely negative impression of Islam. How insulting to Muslim women in Britain and throughout the world that he should link the Muslim veil to a terrorist hijacking.
He and others freely use terms such as "fundamentalist" to misrepresent and malign Muslims and their beliefs. Thus they help to legitimate the latest of the crusades against Islam.
Yours faithfully, M. U. WARD Education Officer The Muslim Educational Trust London, N4
