Proms Gallery types will feel at home in this noisy, crowded little bar, which is one of the last watering holes between High Street Kensington tube and the Albert Hall. At first sight it may seem impossibly crowded, but penetrate the long narrow bar and you may find a sticky little table at the rear under the skylight. Stay for happy hour and you could end up rotten stinking happy as the 'hour lasts from opening time until 8.30pm, during which time margaritas are pounds 2.50, the sangria pounds 5.95 a pitcher and house wine pounds 5.75 a bottle. A young, often hispanic crowd shouts loudly above the salsa muzak. The waiters are brisk and willing, but women alone may find them just a tiny bit of a nuisance. 5pm-2am Mon-Sat, 5.30-11.30 Sun.

Cuba Bar Restaurant 11 Kensington High Street, W8 (071-938 4137)
