Yes please... The Riviera runs through it

The ubiquitous pedal pusher, always desirable and now affordable too from high-street hopeful Wallis

YOU WOULD have to be daft not to have noticed that "demi-pants," "clam diggers" - or whatever other fancy name has been invented recently for pedal pushers - are very very trendy this summer. And why not, they're great. The high street has, as always, come up with some fantastic versions of the Prada, Sonia Rykiel, Chloe and Owen Gaster designs seen on the catwalk of late. We're well versed with the roll call of places to find the best high-street stuff by now, but Wallis isn't a name which usually appears. This summer though they've done the business with this lovely look. It's all kind of Continental and sassy. The pretty little cardigan with the lace trim is only pounds 30 (sizes 10-14), and the linen pedal pushers pictured (sizes 10-14) are pounds 30, and come in black, white and orange. Wallis are doing some stretch cotton ones too in black or white, for pounds 25, and by next week they'll be doing some jersey ones (black only) for the bargin price of pounds 20. Pedal pushers do look fab and sexy with high heels but heels aren't always that practical are they? No. The right trainers, thong sandals and flatties look equally good with them, but beware; pedal pushers can be very cruel to calves!
