Benefits up for elderly

EXTRA money has been designated from 5 October for some people aged 60 or above. A free fact sheet giving eligibility details of the increased benefits on offer to elderly people is available from the charity Age Concern.

The increases ( pounds 2 per week per person, or pounds 3 per couple) will automatically be awarded to people who are receiving Income Support, but Age Concern is worried that those who only receive Housing Benefit or Community Charge Benefit could miss out.

Details of the rises and eligibility - on receipt of an SAE - from The Distribution Department, Age Concern England, Astral House, 1268 London Road, London SW16.
