Fixed rates for two years

SEVERAL lenders are launching two-year, fixed-rate mortgages but rates are edging upwards so borrowers would be well advised to move quickly.

Abbey National is offering a rate of 7.79 per cent fixed until January 1995.

Cheltenham & Gloucester has a rate of 7.5 per cent for two years or 8.75 per cent for five. Nationwide is launching a 7.25 per cent rate fixed for two years. Stroud & Swindon's two year mortgage plan is fixed at 6.95 per cent for six months, then capped at 7.95 per cent for 18 months.
