NEWCASTLE Building Society has launched an escalator bond paying up to 8.5 per cent gross interest.

Interest on the three-year Nova Growth Bond 5 is 7 per cent in the first year, 7.5 in the second and 8.5 in the third. Minimum investment is pounds 2,000 and the maximum is pounds 300,000.

Bank of Scotland has launched a fixed rate bond which pays 6.5 per cent gross for two years. Minimum investment is pounds 10,000.
