Bargain Hunter: Cut-price bundles as TalkTalk plays Game of Thrones

TalkTalk is targeting Game of Throne fans with an offer that it claims is the cheapest way to watch the cult series, while Skyscanner has revealed the cheapest week to travel on a summer holiday

Watch it! TalkTalk has launched an 18-month half-price Plus TV package, including broadband, calls and mobile SIM for 10 a month plus line rental.

The company reckons the 50 per cent discount will give a saving of £217.42 in comparison with BT's equivalent package. The offer runs until 13 August.

TalkTalk is also targeting Game of Thrones fans with an offer that it claims is the cheapest way to watch the cult series.

You can buy-to-own Game of Thrones series 1 for £9.95 in SD and £14.95 in HD, while series 2 to 5 are £16.95 each in SD, and £19.95 in HD.

Post Office makes its first foray into mobile deals

Speak up! The Post Office yesterday launched its first-ever mobile business with a pay-as-you-go service.

Calls to both landlines and mobiles are 8p per minute standard rate – which the Post Office claims is up to 77 per cent cheaper than with some of the other main providers – and 10p per text.

Customer top-ups are offered: if you spend £10 in any 30-day period, you'll get £20 worth of credit. The free credit lasts for 30 days.

Bundles start at £5 for 250 minutes, 3,000 texts and 500MB of data.

The cheapest time to fly for a holiday this summer

Up, up and away! The cheapest week to travel on a summer holiday this year is between 22 and 29 August, reckons Skyscanner. Those travelling from 25 July to 1 August will pay up to 45 per cent more for the same flights, the comparison service warns.

It also highlights the best times to book for flights to some European destinations. By booking five weeks in advance, holidaymakers can save as much as 24 per cent on a trip to Palma, 21 per cent to Faro, 16 per cent to Ibiza and 14 per cent to Alicante.

However, if you're planning to head to Malaga, you should book seven weeks ahead to get a 20 per cent discount.

Make £1,600 by renting out a room during Wimbledon

Ace! Londoners can make an easy profit from Wimbledon this year, reckons Airbnb. It says those opening up a spare room to visitors during the tournament in the immediate and surrounding areas will typically earn more than £1,600.

Meanwhile, it reckons that homeowners in neighbouring districts – including Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Sutton and Croydon – could earn an average of £116 per night during the two-week tennis tournament, by renting out a spare room.
