BRIEFS : Legal aid terms
The Law Society released proposed improved terms this week for legal aid franchise holders. It suggests the Legal Aid Board should pay £250 on account when legal aid certificates are granted rather than waiting nine months, delegating power to spe nd up to £750 on experts, and paying solicitors for three-quarters of work done every six months.
Franchisees should also be allowed payment on account in long-running court cases.
