The Bargain Hunter: A cut-price way to make tracks

London-to-Scotland rail company East Coast is offering 125,000 tickets in a festive seat sale, with return travel costing £20 in Standard accommodation and £60 in First Class to destinations such as Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh. The sale runs until Tuesday 18 December, and you can book discounted fares for travel between Monday 7 January to Friday 1 March 2013. Go to eastcoast.co.uk/christmas for details.

Warm to these cheap headphones

Skinnydip offers a fun range of new gadget cases and is offering 30 per cent discount off all orders over £30 for 30 days until 6 January. Best sellers right now, not surprisingly, given the cold, are earmuffs and animal beanie hat headphones such as the £15 leopard-print earmuff headphones. The range of phone, tablet and Kindle cases, featured on Dragons' Den a couple of months ago, are at lets-skinnydip.com. Use the code BIG30 for the discount.

Hot-foot it to Asos deals on shoes

Online fashion store Asos is offering a range of its men's and women's shoes at up to half price. The deal is a "while stocks last" thing, but there was a choice of 1,800 women's styles and 1,200 men's as we went to press. Top savings are on IRO over-the-knee women's boots reduced from £740 to £330, but other brands in the sale include Marc Jacobs, Dr Marten's, Ted Baker, Reebok, Calvin Klein and Adidas. To see the full available stock go to asos.com
