The Bargain Hunter: Discount deals on brand-new cars

To celebrate the launch of Recombu.com's new car price comparison website on Monday, Recombu Cars is running a stunning offer on brand new vehicles. Customers signing up to recombu.com/cars will be entitled to a 25 per cent discount on a new Ford Focus Zetec with an EcoBoost petrol engine. The reduction brings the price of the car down from £17,945 to just £13,445. The offer runs while stocks last, but even if you miss out, be sure to use Recombu Cars to check the price on whatever vehicle you do end up buying.

Online 'flash sales' for H&M clothes

If a new car isn't on the cards, perhaps a new wardrobe is? H&M has been running a series of online "flash sales" this week, with 50 per cent off selected items for a day at a time. Although the sales are online only, stock levels are not detailed and, unfortunately, these sales end as quickly as they begin, meaning it's worth keeping an eye out for further sales this week and acting quickly when you spot one.

WHSmith's school stationery offer

You can get the kids' "back to school" stationary a little early this year as WHSmith is running a 70 per cent sale on pencil cases, A5 notebooks, and ink cartridges while stocks last. There are more than 400 items available at a discounted rate, with the sale running both in-store and online. Home delivery costs £3.99, but in-store collection is free. One little catch, however, is that WHSmith cannot guarantee that in-store prices will be the same as those online.

Save money at House of Fraser

Finally, there's 70 per cent off all end-of-season items at House of Fraser until midnight tomorrow. Items in the sale include men and women's summer fashion, home and furniture lines, kidswear, and all manner of products in the store's beauty range.
