Denton House has been put on the market by Lady Beecham, the widow of Sir Thomas Beecham. The small residential estate with a period house overlooks its own parkland on the edge of the Waveney Valley, near Harleston. The house dates back in part from the 17th century and has seven bedrooms, a three-bedroom self-contained wing, a range of outbuildings, including a Victorian stable block, and a tennis court. In the grounds of about 32 acres is an 18th-century flint grotto described by Nikolaus Pevsner as "the best in the county". Offers in the region of pounds 625,000 through Strutt & Parker (01603 617431).

This three-bedroom house from David Wilson Homes is one of five remaining at Beechlands Park, on the edge of the village of Taverham. Priced at pounds 52,995 the houses, with fitted kitchens and large lounge/dining rooms, have been built with first-time buyers in mind. Work is beginning later this year on four-bedroom houses, with garages and separate sitting- and dining-rooms, which will start at pounds 84,995. Shops, schools and pubs are within walking distance. Sales office: (01603 867008).

Honeysuckle Cottage, a 200-year-old detached brick-and-flint cottage, is in the village of Syderstone, eight miles from the coast. It was modernised in 1980 but has many original features such as fireplaces, exposed beams and latched doors. It has three bedrooms, a kitchen, living-room and dining- room, and an outbuilding. The well-stocked garden is 125ft and secluded. The ponds on Syderstone Common are home to the rare natterjack toad. Offers in the region of pounds 76,950 through Beltons (01553 770055).
