Anger over spoof obituary
A BBC Radio One presenter, Chris Morris, was suspended last night following an item on his satirical programme which featured the preparation of an obituary for Michael Heseltine. A number of listeners rang the BBC to complain after hearing Morris ask Jerry Hayes, a Tory MP, for a comment to be included in the obituary. Some listeners got the impression that Mr Heseltine, who suffered a heart attack last year, had actually died. The BBC apologised unreservedly for the item, and said Mr Morris had been suspended pending a full investigation.
