The Government is looking again at its rabies control policy, taking account of the latest scientific information, Angela Browning, the junior agriculture minister, told the Commons.

But she refused to comment on speculation that the Prime Minister has asked for a report on the present rabies and quarantine laws by the end of this month.

"If new moves are decided upon, an announcement will be made. But our paramount need is to protect the health of animals and people in Britain," she said.
