Baby girl stabbed in her pram
A baby girl was seriously ill in hospital last night after she was stabbed by a mentally-ill attacker while in her pram in a shopping centre, police said.
Eyewitnesses said the man approached 12-month-old Ashleigh Baker and her mother, Norma Jean, as they shopped at the Bridgeway Centre in the Meadows suburb of Nottingham. The man lashed out with a two-inch kitchen knife, badly cutting the girl's arm and then ran off.
A man was later arrested and the child was taken to the city's Queen's Medical Centre where her condition was "serious but not life-threatening".
