Branch fine

An angry pensioner was justified in making dawn raids to prune his neighbour's 10 cypress trees, the Court of Appeal ruled. Michael Jones, 67, took the action after Charles Stanton, 87, planted the trees in his garden at Bournville, Birmingham, which grew 25ft tall and overshadowed his house. Mr Stanton faces legal costs for pounds 70,000 after losing his appeal against a county court decision.
