TWO STRANGERS who wed in blaze of publicity after winning a "blind- date" competition organised by a local radio station officially announced last night that their marriage was over.

Greg Cordell, 28, and Carla Germaine, 23, met for the first time when they married in a lavish ceremony at Birmingham's Hyatt Regency Hotel in January. The couple were selected to marry after entering a competition organised by the Birmingham-based BRMB radio station. As part of their prize, they won a honeymoon in the Bahamas and the use of a luxury flat and sports car.

In a statement issued after last night's ITV television documentary Two Strangers and a Wedding, the pair said they could no longer live as a married couple, but "we remain close friends and have no regrets".
