Briton drowns on holiday beach

A British man has drowned while swimming in the sea off the holiday island of Gran Canaria, the Foreign Office confirmed yesterday.

David Baron, 34, drowned in a strong undercurrent at El Taurito. He is believed to have come from the north-west of England.
