500 more jobs at Samsung
South Korean electronics giant Samsung has confirmed it will move its European headquarters and international training centre from Frankfurt to Hounslow, west London. The decision, announced yesterday during the Queen's opening of Samsung's new pounds 450m plant at Cleveland, will create up to 500 jobs by the year 2000.
Samsung received an estimated pounds 80m in government funds towards the Cleveland factory, where about 3,000 people are forecast to work by the year 2000. The plant will have an annual capacity of about 1m microwave ovens and 1.3m computer screens.
